Never a Dull Moment

I write this blog at 39,000 feet traveling at a speed of nearly 700 miles per hour. No, I’m not Superman. I’m almost to India. The television screen on the seat in front of me reveals our exact location. We are currently flying over a desert several hundred miles west of Kuwait. We should be in India is several hours!

Following Jesus is always exciting, but it especially the case when you add both Pastor Lonny and my incompetence to the mix! We arrived at O’Hare several hours early with our passports in hand. Good start. Then things got really exciting. As our attendant checked my passport she asked,”Where is your VISA?” Panic struck. (I have a Mastercard…just kidding). Lonny had his VISA stamped right there on his passport, bigger than life. My passport was empty! Then I discovered I had a new passport which meant my VISA was somewhere in my old passport. Great! Now where is my old passport? Did I keep my old passport?

After a quick call to my awesome wife and some prompt action fronm our missions team at Living Stones, the passport was located. My daughter, Lauren, and her cajun buddy, Aaron, were in route within minutes to deliver the goods. In just the right time, we made it through security and boarded our plane! Whew!

So here I am, grateful that I serve a BIG GOD who’s able to overcome my incompetence and actually use me for His glory. So please keep us in your prayers. May Jesus be glorified in the great nation of India.

Off to India!

Tomorrow I leave with Pastor Lonny for a week of ministry with our dear friend, Pastor Honoch, in the sprawling, people packed, nation of India. During the week, I will be highlighting the incredible legacy left by one man’s radical obedience. The India we are visiting today would not be here if it were not for the heroic life and ministry of William Carey. He embodies the potential each one of has to bring the Kingdom of God to earth. As I have searched for real life models of cultural transformation, Carey’s example has been a guiding light.

Please pray for me. Traveling with Pastor Lonny is not easy. We have more fun than any two people deserve! To all who helped to underwrite the expenses for this outreach, THANK YOU!  May the Lord be glorified!

The Power of an Obedient Act

I was recently with Pastor Keith Tucci, the Pastor of Living Hope Church in Ligonier, PA and part of the Network of Related Pastors, a group to which I belong. He shared a powerful message from Hebrews 7:1-10. I was especially impacted by verses 9 and 10 which read:

“Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizadek met him.”

Here’s the short version. Levi wasn’t born for another four hundred years or so, yet, from God’s viewpoint, he was present in the loins of his spiritual father Abraham. Abraham’s powerful act of obedience was still bringing God’s blessing to those four hundred years down stream!

Pastor Keith admonished: “Don’t discount your outrageous acts of obedience!”

What you and I do today has an impact on our seed. A heroic act of radical obedience can bring the Lord’s blessing on your great, great, grandchildren! SELAH – pause and let that sink in. The opposite is also true. Our outrageous acts of disobedience have devastating impact on the destiny of our descendants.

The bottom line is this - our choices matter. Let’s CHOOSE LIFE today! Be radically obedient to God. Your great grandkids will thank you.

PS – Pastor Keith Tucci will be ministering at Living Stones Crown Point on Sunday, March 14 for both the 8 & 11 o’clock services and at our Men’ s Network Meeting on Monday, March 15 @ 7pm. Mark your calendars!
